Customized Lasik can be better known as 'Eagle's Eye Vision'. Customized Lasik is the next generation of excimer laser and creates a  customized "perfect shape" to the surface of the eye to allow an "ideal focus" for an eye. The  cornea will be created by the use of a new technology  that involves  an eye tracking system within the excimer laser combined with a computer that can map not only the corneal topography, but also the entire focus of the eye using a process known as 'wave front technology'. Eyes that have customized LASIK will theoretically be able to see to the 6/3 (20/10) level or better than vision normally seen with conventional glasses, contacts or LASIK with first generation broad beam lasers. In reality, customized LASIK will improve the overall results for patients undergoing LASIK by increasing their chances of seeing clear without aberrations that could cause glare, haloes or other visual aberrations that are caused by corneal abnormalities. Additionally, patients with previous refractive surgery complications can be improved with customized LASIK.

ABOUT THE EQUIPMENT USED FOR CUSTOMIZED LASIK:

EC-5000CX Series from Nidek
Excimer Laser Corneal Surgery System

Refractive surgery performed with Nidek EC-5000CX / EC-5000CXII is the ultimate in precision laser surgery.

An innovative scanning technology for an even smoother and more uniform ablation
which offers:

  • A smoother and more uniform ablated surface

  • Better beam control

  • A faster ablation time with a lower number of pulses

  • Less ablation depth per diopter

  • A smoother transitional zone

  • Flatter ablation

  • Better control of tissue hydration

  • Customized ablations with Nidek's new MultiPointTM Ablation to compensate for subtle irregularities and aberrations of the eye.

Combined with computer-based innovations, the EC-5000CX/CXII ensures a seamless blending of ablated and non-ablated areas, producing a smooth transition zone.

Flex Scan :

A new unique slit scanning ablation profile that reduces ablation volume, improves accuracy of the refractive correction and reduces spherical aberration induced by laser ablation. The scanning slit beam smoothly sweeps the cornea at different intervals in six directions over a 360-degree area, quickly ablating tissue with cool, overlapping ultraviolet energy.

MultiPointTM Ablation:

For customized & individualized ablations, Nidek's segmental ablation system allows precise ablation of specific areas on the cornea to correct higher-order aberrations detected by the OPD-ScanTM which cannot be corrected by glasses or normal refractive surgery.

An ingenious technology for patient alignment, procedure observation and treatment control
which offers:

Precise, tilt-free, 3-dimensional eye alignment using both a central red aiming beam and arc-shaped cross illumination
Hands-free, stepless 3-17X magnification power adjustment of the co-axial procedure observation microscope
Hands-free x-y-z control of the laser system delivery arm
The fast eye-tracking system that maintains exact laser alignment during the procedure for optimal treatment outcomes

New Eye Tracking System :

High speed, reliable Eye Tracker specifically developed for customized ablations.
With the new offset function, the surgeon can arbitrarily set the center of the pupil (within ± 1 mm ) as needed.

Zoom Microscope :

Hand free control of microscope & stepless zoom changer. Magnification from 3X to 17X is available by pressing the foot controller. The preferred magnification can also be manually selected.

Ergonomic 3D Axial Control Stick:

3D motorized control stick along with improved illumination and aiming beams provide precise control of laser beam delivery arm.

Comprehensive Software:

Familiar and easy-to-use software facilitates treatment procedures by displaying important parameters and complete patient data immediately. These fully computerized functions assure even beginners of satisfactory treatment results.
