The first private eye hospital in the region was founded by late Dr. A. D. Grover in 1962. A renowned eye surgeon & philanthropist, he was known far & wide for his clinical acumen, keen observation & surgical skill. The pioneer of free eye camps in this region , his area of work extended to the extremely poor tribal belt of Lohardaga and Khunti in Bihar . Both his sons stepped into his shoes: Dr. Sanjay Grover set up a branch hospital in Solan (near Shimla in H.P.) while Dr.Rohit Grover & his wife Dr.Sujata Grover both highly qualified Ophthalmologists , are taking care of the main hospital at Chandigarh since 1988.
